The system is informative at an operational level, offering easy access to critical management data resulting in improved theatre efficiency.

Vital data is captured as part of the normal work routine for all clinical and administrative staff, consequently, significant amounts of management information, including theatre utilisation, cancellation and stock monitoring, are automatically collected as a by-product of system use.

The system is able to track and manage patients through theatre and back to the ward, clearly showing where patients are at any time.

The system allows simple scheduling from waiting lists to available theatre slots.

Theatre Manager is integrated with the trauma board and CEPOD lists, providing full visibility for all emergencies.

Patient Tracking and Capturing of Schedule Variances
The system automatically tracks the patient from ward to theatre and back to ward, capturing each occasion when the patient passes through designated points, ensuring all staff have a clear view of patient progress and prepare accordingly.

Patient tracking can be managed with compatible hand-held scanners and barcodes on patient wristbands, or through manual time entry.

Late starts, late finishes, cancellations and other variations from schedule are easy to capture by selecting appropriate reasons from drop down lists.

This data, coupled with patient tracking, provides theatre managers with accurate information about theatre utilisation, the location of potential ‘blockages’ in the system, reasons for variation from the schedule and also assists with resource planning.

Meaningful Clinical Data Capture
Theatre Manager uses terms and titles that are meaningful to clinicians, which in turn link to clinical assessments related to specific surgical procedures or stages of a surgical event.

The selected assessments present the user with a series of questions and answers that can be chosen with the click of a mouse.

Thousands of pre-loaded assessments including operation notes, nursing and anaesthetic assessments simplify the data capture process and ensure the presentation of meaningful information.

Automatic Coding
Clinical terms and titles are pre-coded, coding is automatic, accurate and consistent and generated at source as the clinician captures data during the course of his/her normal work routine.

Efficient Registry Data Capture
Registry data is automatically captured within assessments, minimising the effort required to submit returns for registries such as Surgical Site Infections, the National Joint Register and National Vascular data set and others.

Associated documents such as operation notes and anaesthetic records are produced automatically with data easily accessible for further audit and research.

Interfacing with Hospital Systems
Using standard interfacing techniques and messaging (HL7, csv, XML) it is a simple process to interface with hospital administration systems and EPR’s.

This ensures efficient information flows without double entry and that the required information is in the right system at the right time.

Accurate, Credible Data to All Staff
As data is entered by those who understand and have a vested interest in getting it right, for example when completing operation notes or tracking patients through the theatre complex, the quality and accuracy of input are high.

Simple Reporting Puts Users In Control
An in-built report writing tool allows both clinical and administrative users to extract the data they need in the format they require.

Creating reports, such as KPI data, is a simple, straightforward process and can be exported to Word or Excel for further reporting or analysis.

Extending the Pathway
It is possible to extend Theatre Manager to include Patient Manager in order to include pre and post operative data into the clinical record.

It is particularly useful for Theatre staff to be able to draw on Pre-Assessment data and other clinical data relevant to the patient care pathway to assist with planning of lists and help minimise last minute cancellations.
