CQUINS

The CQUIN payment framework makes a proportion of providers’ income conditional on quality and innovation.

Its aim is to support the vision set out in High Quality Care for All, for an NHS where quality is the organising principle.

The framework was launched in April 2009 and helps ensure quality is part of the commissioner-provider discussion everywhere.

Locally agreed CQUIN schemes are required to include goals in the three domains of quality: safety, effectiveness and patient experience; and to reflect innovation.

The two national goals for acute CQUIN schemes in 2010/11 are:

1.     Reduce avoidable death, disability and chronic ill health from Venous -  thromboembolism (VTE)

2.     Improve responsiveness to personal needs of patients

Bluespier’s clinical assessments support a wide variety of CQUINS including the two national ones.

The CQUINS module is available as a standalone module with a simple PAS interface for demographics and provides clinical users and patients a quick and easy way to record key CQUINS data.

A comprehensive set of CQUINS reports are available for the Trust to be able to demonstrate their compliance.
